- Select one day in Civil War history on which an event occurred that you can research. The event you choose must: Be specific. Be researchable. Be appropriate.
- Develop a fictional, but plausible, character that was at the event. Consider the character’s gender, age, hobbies, likes/dislikes, and societal position in life.
- Write a preface. You may write your preface and short story in the first person (“I…”) or third person (“He/She…”) point of view, but it must remain consistent.
- You may use either past or present tense for the story and preface; however, be careful to keep your verb tense consistent throughout.
- The paper must deal in facts, not just emotions; therefore, it will take research. You are required to have and use at least 3 sources each with their separate note sheets
- It must follow MLA writing standards (be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced).
- You will need to turn in your Preface and Works Cited page.
